Game Changers are Thermostats, NOT Thermometers!

May 5, 2021

Today, we are talking about Thermostats! Why? I believe that in order to be a Game Changer, you've got to be like a Thermostat and NOT a Thermometer!

"While a thermometer is a tool to read a room’s temperature, a thermostat is able to control it. Whether it’s wall or boiler-mounted, this control dial is essential for regulating your home’s temperature."

Let’s take a deeper look at what a thermostat is, what types of thermostats there are and how they work.

In the natural, one can set the stat to the desired temperature, and when the temperature rises or dips, the mechanics of the thermostat is triggered, to either raise or lower the room temperature.

So, how does this concept operate in the spiritual realm?! Well first, the LORD, Himself in His Word has described how our own individual temperatures should be in Revelation 3:

"I know all that you do, and I know that you are neither frozen in apathy nor fervent with passion. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm, I am about to spit you from my mouth." {Revelation 3: 15}

Pretty intense, huh? So, it starts with us. In order to change the temperature in a room, your thermostat needs to be set to the right temperature.

We know plenty of people who are cold, but how do you get yourself to the HOT temperature the LORD speaks of in the Revelation verse?!

The key is in the next passage:

"For you claim, “I’m rich and getting richer—I don’t need a thing.” Yet you are clueless that you’re miserable, poor, blind, barren, and naked! 18 So I counsel you to purchase gold perfected by fire, so that you can be truly rich. Purchase a white garment to cover and clothe your shameful Adam-nakedness. Purchase eye salve to be placed over your eyes so that you can truly see. All those I dearly love I unmask and train. So repent and be eager to pursue what is right. Behold, I’m standing at the door, knocking. If your heart is open to hear my voice and you open the door within, I will come in to you and feast with you, and you will feast with me. And to the one who conquers I will give the privilege of sitting with me on my throne, just as I conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. The one whose heart is open let him listen carefully to what the Spirit is saying now to the churches." {Revelation 3: 17-22}

I believe it starts with repentance, and allowing the LORD to ‘Sanctify’ us. What is Sanctification?

Santification is:

- "the action of making or declaring something holy." (the sanctification of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ)

- "the action or process of being freed from sin or purified."
(the process of sanctification takes deliberate action on our part)

- the action of causing something to be or seem morally right or acceptable.
(the sanctification of violence) - Oxford Dictionary.

"But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Since you call on a Father who judges each one’s work impartially, conduct yourselves in reverent fear during your stay as foreigners.…" {1 Peter 1:15-17}

The way I read the above scriptures, it is NOT an option for anyone who calls themselves a Christian or Believer, or Follower to not comply with His directives. God gives us CHOICE. Good choices, good consequences, Bad Choices or Disobedience, bad consequences.

When we allow this process in our lives, and it is not generally easy. But His grace will be sufficient, and the ‘spiritual static’ on our lives, will be removed!

Our vessels/lives are then open to receiving His new wine. We will be transformed. And given new wineskins. Now Jesus can fill us to the brim, of NEW WINE! The Bible says, new wine CANNOT go in an old wine skin, or it will burst. Even the process of making new wineskins, involves a ‘process’.

"No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.” {Matthew 9:16-18}

We are the Lord hands and feet, here on this earth and all of us have end time destinies. We open up to Him, He purifies us, He fills us, and makes us HOT!!! Being a Thermostat MAKES US A GAME CHANGER!

The alternatives to not being made pure and Hot, as the bible says in the above scripture, are not very inviting. I did not write the book. While God was talking to the church in Sardis, this biblical principle is for us today!

How do we apply this to being a Thermostat for GOD, as a Game Changer?! Remember a Game Changer is an event idea, or person, that creates a SIGNIFICANT shift in the current manner of doing, or thinking about something.

As a Game Changer/prepared vessel, we can sense or discern what is going on around us, and adjust the climate in the room, accordingly. Remember GOD has already set the temperature, He wants us ALL to be. HOT, and PASSIONATE! Then, as Spiritual Thermostats we can be used by Him to TRANSFORM the entire environment into HOT! He can use us to set Spiritual Fires, and IGNITE individuals, churches, cites, countries, and more. These are blazes, that will never be extinguished!

Are you ready to be Game Changer for GOD?
Are you ready to be a Thermostat?

Is It Always The Devil??

Have you ever heard the statement, ‘If you are getting resistance in your life as a Christian, or a minister’, you must be doing something right? Another words, the more the opposition, the more the devil is trying to upstage, what God is doing in your life. You are automatically assumed to be on the ‘right track’. Yikes! Dangerous thinking! Recently I have started hearing this again, as if that statement is a guidepost for discerning the will of God in one’s life. This could be a dangerous assumption, and be more trouble that the oppositions one is facing. What about Job? Yes, God did give the devil permission to cause all the havoc and loss, for Job. He was, I believe wanting to reveal Job’s righteousness to the enemy. I also believe He was also testing Job, and his friends. But GOD “was in” that persecution from the enemy.  I believe, God dumped enormous grace, on Job to be able sojourn that difficult journey. In the end Job was rewarded double, and regained all that he lost. My own

What’s In Your Cloak?

"WILL YOU LAY YOUR CLOAK DOWN, OR JUST WAVE?" Then an exceptionally large crowd gathered and carpeted the road before him with their cloaks and prayer shawls. Others cut down branches from trees to spread in his path. {Matthew 21:8 in The Passion Translation} As many times as I have seen the scripture and celebrated in Palm Sunday services, I have never paid much attention to anything but the Palm Branches being waved, and shouts of Hosanna until a dear sister in the Lord and I were speaking about this verse. She had mentioned that The Lord had especially highlighted to her the Shawls used to cover the road as Jesus came into Jerusalem. It started to get me thinking... Here is some history about the Shawls: "The Tallit is a garment worn by those of Jewish faith as a symbol of communal solidarity and devotion to their God. The Tallit (prayer shawl) was to remind the Jews of the Commandments of the Torah. The numerical value of the word Tzitzit (fringes) on the
